Why Is Nationalism Bigger Than Ever? On the eve of the 2016 election, Columbia Global Reports published John B. Judis’s The Populist Explosion, which predicted a worldwide wave of populist sentiment, on the left and the right, in reaction to the disruptions caused by globalization. Two years later, the world is grappling with a fierce resurgence of "us vs. them" nationalism. Now Judis has written a sequel: The Nationalist Revival, which takes his argument one step further, from politics into governance. A book meant to explain, and also to foment a discussion that we are not having yet. It is indispensable reading for people who want to understand the current moment.
