Ascent and Acceptance: Sectarianism in the Middle East
April 12th 2016
| 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
The Middle East is often characterized as a place of eternal conflict amongst various groups. Governments are seen as oppressive, sometimes advancing one ethnic group while suppressing others. However, by tracing the region’s history, it can be shown this wasn’t always the case; and at points it was even more tolerant than in Western Europe. What of the past can we learn about the future of the Middle East? Can the pluralism of before be revived?
