Fatima Bhutto’s New Kings of the World: Dispatches from Bollywood, Dizi, and K-Pop is a book about new arbiters of mass culture originating from Asia including India’s Bollywood films, Turkish dizi (soap operas), and South Korean pop music. Truly global in nature and appeal, they constitute the greatest challenge yet to American popular culture and soft power. She will be in conversation with Nermeen Shaikh, a news producer and co-host of Democracy Now!
