The Middle East is often characterized as a place of eternal conflict amongst various groups. Governments are seen as oppressive, sometimes advancing one ethnic group while suppressing others. However, by tracing the region’s history, it can be shown this wasn’t always the case; and at points it was even more tolerant than in Western Europe. What of the past can we learn about the future of the Middle East? Can the pluralism of before be revived?

Join WAC-DC as we host Nicolas Pelham, author of Holy Lands: Reviving Pluralism in the Middle East. Take this opportunity to meet and see a veteran Middle East expert as Mr. Pelham makes a rare trip to the United States from the United Kingdom.

This event is free and open to the public.
